iPissed

This morning I went to use my iPod and saw this on the screen:

It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this situation was NOT GOOD.

When I got to work I looked up some iHelp and it told me that there were hardware damages to my iPod and I would need to restore it back to its factory settings (read: erase the whole thing) to try and salvage it.

I hear you all saying, "Oh, silly KK, don't worry – you can just do that and then update your iPod off of your iTunes library again!"

Oh, naive reader, how I wish that were true.

When my computer died in the fall, I lost my iTunes library.

Every song.

So, I don't have a library to which I sync up my soon-to-be-restored iPod.

Also? I have one of the oldest iPods on the planet.

It's a fourth generation (were some of you readers even born yet???) that has a click wheel. Old school. Because that's how I roll.

Of course, this also means that I am rolling without ANY songs...

hi kk, im been a follower of your blog for a while. love your wittiness. anyway, as for the ipod, i think its time for an upgrade. better than having to worry about breakdowns again and loosing songs.

That sucks...we'll have to give you some of the previously pilfered music from the cd making days!

Oh darlin - that sucks! I say go and get yourself a pretty new one, reload your CDs, your friend's CDs and raid their iPod libraries.

You cannot be without tunes!

Send it to me and I'll load my library on for ya. If you don't mind some gangster rap. :-)

that is heartbreaking! I can't live without my ipod and trust me I recently had to. It wasn't until a few weeks ago I bought my friends old one off of her and finally had another one. My first one did that too and it was the same situation where I had lost my songs too. My heart goes out to you because as trivial as it seems, it really is a pain.

Ohhhhh no!!! I have restored before (several times, actually) but I always had my library on the computer. Sad! :(

As someone who just had their computer die (twice) recently, I empathize (or is it sympathize? Thunderthighs? I never get it right).

I have to think there's still a way to get it off there-- you haven't updated your iPod at all since your computer broke? I'd think the files have to be on the computer somewhere.

I would just sit down and cry. Listening to my iPod is absolutely necessary for surviving the work day. Have you looked at the little nanos? The 1 GB is around $45! I love mine!
